I love islands! We explored Hennepin Island on our Mississippi River Travel Date. Diverse and small, it includes several parks: one close to the fall with a hydroelectric plant and, next to it, a park on the bluffs named for Fr. Hennepin with trails and steps to the shoreline. This blog is filled with colorful photos and interesting information!
The Guthrie Theater, Gold Medal Park and the Memorial to the tragic 35W Bridge collapse (2007) were included in our Mississippi River Travel Date. Just a few steps from the Stone Arch Bridge and the Heritage Trail, these 3 significant, though unrelated, sites are well worth this side trip. This blog is filled with colorful photos and interesting information!
The Stone Arch Bridge – a Minneapolis icon – crosses the Mississippi River near downtown Minneapolis and St. Anthony Falls. Truly unique to our city, it is a timeless piece of architecture and history. Built in 1883 by railroad magnet, James J. Hill, it became the city’s most important and impressive railroad bridge. It was the starting point on our recent Travel Date as we continue to explore the wonderful sites in our back yard. This blog shares fascinating info, photos, and artwork.
The Falls of St. Anthony are the focal point of the Mississippi River as it flows through downtown Minneapolis, MN USA. We continued our exploration of the world out our backdoor on our recent Travel Date, crossing the river on the Stone Arch Bridge on the Heritage Trail. This blog shares interesting info, photos, and artwork revealing the falls as a “falls,” and its journey to becoming a vibrant dam.
Minnesota Arboretum “the arb” is a great Minneapolis, MN, Travel Date for any season, any age. 1,200 acres are filled with beautiful landscape and flowers, ponds and waterfalls, and Chinese, Japanese, and sculpture themed gardens. Children of all ages can enjoy a Maze Garden and Green Play Yard. Drive, walk or take a tram around the grounds. Pair it with a tour of Prince’s Paisley Park, just down the road. Enjoy my blog filled with photos and info.
Paisley Park is a great Minneapolis, MN, Travel Date for both the hard-core Prince fan and novice. The impact of Prince: musician, artist, fashion designer and social icon is witnessed in a visit to the home, studio – and now museum – of one of Minnesota’s favorite sons. My blog highlights our tour and Paisley Experience!
Nicollet Island is a tiny little island in Minneapolis on the Mississippi River. Home to private houses built on public park land, charming inns and venues in old industrial buildings, a huge iconic neon beer sign, and nature paths through wooded shorelines, it is a treasure to be explored!
