Today is December 13th, Santa Lucia Day in Sweden! To honor her and this festival of lights, plus my Swedish ancestors and my favorite Swedish artist, textile artist Helena Hernmarck, I’m issuing Homage to Sweden.

Morning Glories – in Art & Life (O’Keeffe)
Twenty-two weeks into this 2020 COVID pandemic, I look for things that give me joy! Flowers such as these morning glories give me joy! This summer my flower garden is lush and colorful–and full of opportunity to give me much joy! O’Keeffe’s paintings of flowers are meant to provide joy to the viewer.

I was led to this painting by Manet this week while my own peonies bloomed! I was so excited because my peonies often skip years and this year had a bumper crop.
The City is Dark – in Art & Life (O’Keeffe, NYC, Art in Bloom/Mia/Minneapolis, MN)
Due to COVID the annual Art in Bloom at the MIA was cancelled, and the streets of NYC are dark and empty. In “City Night” O’Keeffe captures the stark streets of New York, an image reflected in a stunning bouquet at last year’s flower show.
