Brownie Lake, tiny and tucked away at the far north end of the Minneapolis, MN Chain of Lakes, unknown to most locals, provided unexpected discovery on our Travel Date around the lakes. Like Raspberry Island, St. Paul, sometimes the smallest of small provides the biggest adventure of all and holds the most delightful results! Join me as I share our story of adventure and discovery on this blog.
The Chain of Lakes & Parks in Minneapolis, the “City of Lakes,” is aptly said to be “like a necklace of diamonds in settings of emerald.” We explored the gems of this treasure on a recent Travel Date. This blog shares favorite spots we revisited and new ones we discovered on this latest adventure.
Our recent Travel Date to MTM-Land reminded us of Minneapolis’s touch with stardom in the 1970s when Mary Tyler Moore “turned the world on with her smile” in our fair city. The Mary Tyler Moore show is set in Minneapolis and there are 6 places to visit to get a reminder of show scenes – all seen and enjoyed by us – and shared with you – in this blog!
Art & Travel: Van Gogh Immersion! Great experience! Immersing in the best of Van Gogh as one artwork morphs seamlessly into another, it is accompanied by music to make it even better. My blog shares lots of photos and reasons why this is a Must See with a trip to NE Mpls – or somewhere near you!
A Bit o’ Brit in Minneapolis! Our Travel Date to Brit’s Pub was as authentic a British experience as one can have in Minnesota. The Lawn Bowling green provided picturesque patio dining. Our fish n’ chips and shepherd’s pie were tastier than in England. The Scottish kilt clad blokes added to the scene. Enjoy the photos and discussion are on my blog.
The iconic Foshay Tower, downtown Minneapolis, MN provided a fun—and informative Travel Date. The 31st floor observation deck provided breathtaking views over the city. I learned that John Philips Sousa wrote a lively march for its opening gala! I discovered that my favorite George Washington sculpture at the Mia sat in the original lobby! And…my great uncle helped build it! More fun facts and great photos are on my blog.
St. Mary’s Basilica, the 1st basilica in the USA, was a stop on our latest Minneapolis Travel Date. Grand church architecture right out of my art history texts, a highlight was the current international exhibit of “Angels Unawares” – highlights on my blog.
“Father of Waters, Mississippi” reigns in the center of the Grand Rotunda of the Minneapolis (MN) City Hall. As a child, I visited this iconic statue with my dad, rubbing his big marble toe for good luck. My blog shares photos and fun facts about the statue plus the clock tower, the bells, the stained glass skylight and marble staircase that make up his grand home.
